A study was made of 211 bridges which were fabricated for patients at the Prosthodontic Clinic of Matsumoto Dental College during 1987. Some of the results were as follows: 1) 46.9% of the patients were males and 53.1% were females. 2) 86.7% of the patients were between 20 and 59 years old. 3) 71.1% of the bridges were fabricated as 3-unit bridges. 4) 79.6% were fabricated as 1-pontic bridges. 5) There were fewer bridge retainers for the lower anterior segment than for other segmedts. 6) 53.1% of bridge retainers were fabricated as full cast crowns. 7) 50.2% were fabricated for vital teeth. 8) Of pontics, 31.5% were replaced for the lower molar segment.
