Matsumoto Dental University making and evaluation of Japanese : Portugues interview sheet in Pediatric Dentistry of Matsumoto Dental University Hospital
The population of Brazilians of Japanese descent has been increasing since 2002. We noticed that many parents can speak Japanese but can not read or write it, because three character types are required (Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji). In order to provide support in dental treatment or dental instruction, we made a Japanese-Portuguese pediatric interview sheet for these parents, asking about general health, lifestyle and health behaviors. Parents were asked to completed this form at the first dental visit. Then the completed questionnaires were evaluated by group discussion. The results suggested that it not only pleased the parents during the dental treatment but also helped dentists obtain more information quickly and the shortened the examination time.
