Investigation of the Actual Condition of Outpatients at the Pedodontic Clinic of Matsumoto Dental College Hospital : Part-II Actual condition of outpatients at the first visit during the past 18 years
A total of 10401 children (5312 male and 5089 female) who first visited the Pedodontic clinic of Matsumoto Dental College Hospital from 1976 to 1994 were surveyed with regard to age, regional difference, incidence of caries and the nursing environment. The results were as follows. 1: 3-5 year old children occupied the largest percentage of first visit outpatients annually. The majority of all new patients were between this age. 2: The number of new patients coming from Matsumoto city, Higashi-Chikuma county and Minami-Azumino county showed an increase in number every year. 3: The new patient's chief complaints of tooth ache and caries treatment decreased every year. On the contrary, oral health management as the chief complaint did gradually increase. 4: While analyzing the incidence of caries, it was found that the df index of the deciduous and the permanent teeth decreased annually. 5: With regards to the nursing environment, an increase in the ratio of breastfeeding and regularity of eating between meals was observed. 6: Brushing habits and the application of topical fluoride increased over time.
