| 内容記述 | A follow-up study was conducted in patients with temporomandibular arthrosis who underwent treatment between 1993 and 1997 at Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department II of Matsumoto Dental University. The subjects consisted of 325 females and 128 males ranging in age from 8 to 90 years. The patients were classified as type I (15%), type II (15%), type III (66%) and type IV (4%) according to the guidelines of the Japanese Society for Temporomandibular Joint. The patients received initial treatments which included physio-therapy, anti-inflammatory medication and bite splints. Twenty-nine patients with type III or IV were treated with closed joint surgery because conservative treatment was not successful. Closed joint surgery was frequently carried out for the patients who noted a of locking period for more than one month. The success rate of our patients was 78% according to both interviews and the guidelines of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. | |||||||
