Sixty-six cases could be included in a follow-up study, and the comparison could be made between the two fixation methods. We investigated the incidence of both mental nerve paresthesia and prolonged mucosal wound healing in each side in which wire or bone screw fixation was applied. In cases of the posterior transfer of the corpus mandibulae more than 5mm, the incidence of the prolonged mucosal wound healing in side patients in whom the bone screw was applied was significantly higher than that in patients in whom the wire was applied.
