<dc:description>Two kind of cell lines (H-I, H-II) derived from epithelial squamous cell carinoma of the maxilla were established. These cell lines have passed though more than 46 trancfer generations, and H-I was histologically differed from H-II. H-I was coposed of epitherial cells and H-II of spindle-shaped cells similar to fibroblast. The doubling time of H-I cell and H-II cell showed 21 hrs and 18 hrs, respectively. The colony-forming ability of H-II cell was higher than that of H-I cell. Heterotransplantation of cultured H-II cells was possible, but not of H-I cells. We concluded that these cell lines are useful for further research in oncology.</dc:description>
