But oral diagnosis has been in existence since the Meiji period, and I believe it is necessary to create a single specialty called \"Oral Diagnostics.\" Here I report the investigation of the current condition of oral diagnosis in 29 dental curricula in Japan. The results are as follows. 1. Lectures and preliminary medical examinations in oral diagnosis are given in 11 colleges. 2. Lectures are not given, but preliminary medical examinations are conducted in 14 colleges. 3. Lectures are not given, but preliminary examinations are given by each separate clinic within the institution in 4 colleges.
