The results were as follows: 1) Cocci and filamentous microorganisms were observed both on the surface and inside the salivary calculus. 2) Filamentous microorganisms on the surface had double membrane structures and a nucleus. 3) Needle-like deposits in the cytoplasm of the filamentous microorganisms showed an intracellular calcification. 4) The distribution of intracellular calcium salts differed each microorganisms.
