This report described the thermal expansion of two pressed and setted commercial investments, Ceravest and Cerami Gold, and their refractory by pressing them during setting. Results were as follows; 1. The thermal expantion of phosphate bonded investments was increased by pressure, or prevention of setting expansion at the setting time. 2. This increase of thermal expansion was caused by the orientted structure of refractory particles and the release of stress. 3. Investments and their consolidated refmactory were enlaged by cyclical heating. 4. Specimens of quartz and cristobaraite show anisotropic thermal expansion in direction of crystal axis. 5.
