In the gas chromatographic studies for this purpose, it is necessary to refer to the method of extracting the local anesthetics in the blood plasma. We examined the two times extracting method, utilizing a peculiarity of that the local anesthetics being easily solved in organic solvent in alkaline solution and in water (aquaous layer) in acid solution. The specimen of blood containing local anesthetics was resolved with CCl_4 by stirring repeatedly with alkaline solution and acid solution. Consequently the peaks of the local anesthetics on the gas chromatogram (by GC-4BPTF, Shimadzu) showed that the mutual intervention of the organic substances in the blood was distinctly eliminated. The peak heights of the local anesthetics and the internal standard were measured and the ratios of them were compared with the control, and the regression lines were calculated.
