A 22-year-old woman conslted our university hospital for orthodontic treatment with a chief complain of lower incisor crowding. She was diagnosed as having Angle Class I malocclusion with lower incisor crowding and a treatment plan using the SmartClip^<TM> Self Ligating edgewise system was developed to reduce the discrepancy and to obtain perfect occlusion. This orthodontic treatment system was newly developed by the 3M Unitek company for reduction not only friction between the main arch and ligation wire but also the duration of wire ligation on the orthodontic brackets.
