| 内容記述 | Guy de Chauliac, the greatest surgeon in the 14th century, wrote his Chirurgia magna in Latin, and this book was soon translated in to several languages and was widely read until the 16th century. In 1890, E. Nicaise made a comprehensive annotated edition of Chirurgia magna in French. In 1909, V. Guerini quoted articles on dentistry in Chirurgia magna from Nicaise's book in his work, A History of Dentistry. Recently, I read that Chirurgia magna was revised and enlarged by L. Joubert in 1585, and so I compared this edition with the articles on dentistry in Guerini's work. I found that Guerini had omitted many diseases treated by dentists, including ranula, aphtha, dislocation and fracture of the mandibula etc. Also, Joubert inserted Ambroise Pare's illustrations of dental instruments in his book. | |||||||
