| 内容記述 | Polyethylene fibers, which could be substituted for the asbestos component in certain pulp devitalizers (Neo-Arsen Black and Neo-Paraform Paste), were embedded subcutaneously in rats, and the tissue reactions were studied histopathologically and electron microscopically. These results were compared with similar observations made using asbestos as a control. Whereas the latter materials were encapsulated, the polyethylene fibers were phagocytized by foreign body giant cells and decreased in quantity with the passage of time. Based upon these observations and a review of the literature on tissue reactions to these materials, it was determined that polyethylene fibers are biologically useful as a substitute for asbestos. | |||||||
