| 内容記述 | In order to improve the quality of regional pedodontic care in the future, a total of 8,295 children (4,252 male and 4,043 female) out of the 10,576 new patients who visited the Pedodontics Clinic of Matsumoto Dental College Hospital during the ll years from 1976 to 1987 were investigated with regard to changes in nursery environment, daily habits, and incidence of caries. The results are as follows. 1) The annual number of new patients, using 1976 as an index of 100, reached a peak of 108.7 in 1978, but thereafter decreased overall with a significant drop to 39.8 observed in 1987. 2) The share of patients coming from the immediate region of Shiojiri city was uniformly high, and the distribution of the age at first visit was stable, over the entire 11-year period. 3) Whereas the highest proportion of new patients each year came for treatment of caries as the chief complaint, the visits by such children accompanied by pain decreased annually. 4) The ratio of patients who visited for regular oral checkups increased over time. 5) The incidence of caries peaked in 1980, followed by a marked decrease and lessening of symptoms. 6) With regards to the nursery environment, the ratios of breast-feeding and regulated intake of snacks were observed to increase. Brushing twice daily or before bedtime also increased. 7) The experience of topical application of fluoride significantly increased over time. | |||||||
