| 内容記述 | The fibers of the periodontal ligament were observed in twenty albino rats, ten mongrel dogs and ten Japanese monkeys under ordinary microsiope and scanning electron microscope. For the electron microscopy, after dehydrated with acetone and by the critical point method, the specimens were coated with carbon and gold. The periodontal ligament was observed at the cervical part, middle part and the apical part of the root. The results are as follows: 1) The principal fiber bundles run from the alveolar bone to cementum and they did not from a network. The intermediate plexus, however, were observed in middle layer of the periodontal ligament at the cervical part. This intermediate plexus was clear at the incisor tooth. 2) The principal fiber bundle was made up of the fibers 1200 A to 1500 A, and indifferent fiber plexus was made up of the fibers 800 A to 1200 A in diameter. The principal fibers and the indifferent fibers did not anastmose together. 3) The indifferent fibers made up the plexus in middle layer of the periodontal ligament. The indifferent fibers plexus was the most dense plexus in middle layer of the periodontal ligament. Density of the plexus, however, was reduced immediately adjacent to alveolar bone and cementum. | |||||||
