This report describes the orthodontic treatment of a patient with skeletal Class II protrusion. A 14−year, 8 month old female patient presented with the chief complaint of lip protrusion and crowding. The facial profile was convex type because of a skeletal Class II facial profile. The maxillary incisors were labially inclined. The right molar relationship was Angle Class I and the left molar relationship was Angle Class II. This patient was diagnosed as skeletal Class II protrusion with high angle case. After extraction of the maxillary and mandibular bicuspids, .018 inch pre−adjusted edgewise brackets were placed to treat the upper and lower incisor inclination and crowding. Transpalatal arch and miniscrew were used for the orthodontic anchorage. However, the miniscrew was loosened during treatment. High pull headgear was added to keep the molar position. After orthodontic treatment, the facial profile was significantly improved, and an acceptable occlusion was achieved. No relapse in the upper and lower dentition was observed after two years of retention except the elongation of upper anterior teeth and the lingual
inclination of lower anterior teeth. |
