A facial deformity, including loss of the right cheek and maxilla and ectopium cicatriceum in the surgically extirpated maxillary carcinoma of a 54 years old male, was reconstruted using the deltopectoral flap, Kuhnt-Szymanoski's method and maxillofacial prosthesis. Satisfactory results were obtained for facial deformity. Oral functions such as articulation and mastication were also markedly improved. It was stressed that treatment of the massive malignant tumor in the oral region should include that of the deformity and dysfunction after the extirpation of the tumor. |
