In 1888 cases (1031 patients) of pulpectomy and infected root canals treated by dentistsor intern students, Formarin-Guaiacol "NEO" (FG) was used as a disinfectant in the root canals until the root canal filling was completed. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Unfavolable symptoms happened in 3 (0.3%) out of 783 pulpectomy cases. 2. 19 (1.7%) out of 1150 asymptomatic chronic apical periodontitis cases resulted in exacerbation of periodentitis. 3. It was recognized that Formalin-Guaiacol kept in clinic, was less subject to a change in quality than formocresol. 4. It was concluded that Formalin-Guaiacol could be used safely as a disinfectant for intracanal medication in endodonticallv treated teeth. |
