| 内容記述 | Suppurative inflammation in the loose connective tissue may quickly spread into an interstitial space, cause diffuse local swelling and induce phlegmon, when no isolation from the surrounding tissue is present. To examine this condition in daily clinical practice, we conducted a radio-diagnostic study in 4 cases (males, aged 24 to 83 years with a mean of 59.0 years) selected from patients who visited our hospital between October 1, 1997 and September 30, 1998, underwent diagnostic imaging by CT and others and were diagnosed with or clinically or radio-diagnostically suspected of having phlegmon. Inflammation spread into the parotid and/or masseteric region in some cases, but not into the pterygopalatine fossa or orbit. Although intensive antibiotic and antiphlogistic therapy may prevent widespread inflammation, techniques for urgent diagnosis and therapy of this disease are needed. | |||||||
