| 内容記述 | When the Department of Dentistry, Beijing Long-tou clinic opened for Japanese living in Beijing city, our university was requested to cooperate with this institution. Our Department of Endodontics and Operative Dentistry was in charge for the first year. The clinic was opened on October 14, 1996. For approximately 1 year we were able to observe the number of new monthly patients, the ratio between males and females, distribution of age, kind of occupations, chief complaints, and diseases based on charts or examination cards. The results obtained were as follows: 1) The average number of new patients was 43.7 per month. 2) Male/Female ratio Of a total of 524 patients 293 were males (55.9%) and 231 were females (44.1%). 3) Age distribution The age of the patients ranged from 25 months to 73 years of age. Patients in their thirties accounted for the largest group with 24.2%. 4) Occupations The largest number of patients were office workers (42.8%), followed by housewives (25.6%). 5) Chief complaints Masticatory disturbances due to restoration problems accounted for the largest amount of complaints with 151, followed by caries treatment with 70, and spontaneous pain with 69. Other complaints included the application of fluoride or prophylactic odontoplasty, abnormal arrangement of teeth, and orthodontic treatment. 6) Chief medical complaints were accounted for by dental caries with 167 complaints, followed by apical periodontitis with 57 and pulp diseases with 51. Diseases other than chief complaints showed dental caries with the most at 332, apical periodontitis at 57, pulp diseases with 42, and simple gingivitis and marginal periodontitis at 33. It may be concluded that conservative dentistry accounts for almost 85% of treatment and prosthodontics and oral surgery are scarcely used. | |||||||
