| 内容記述 | "Rangaku Kotohajime" was written by Genpaku Sugita in 1815, and is very important to understanding how Dutch languages and science, especially medical one, came to Japan. Therefore, "Rangaku Kotohajime" is usually translated as "Dawn of Western Science in Japan". About 180 years have already passed since its appearance, so it has become difficult to read. Dr. Tomio Ogata, Professor of Pathology, Tokyo University School of Medicine, made popular the book by publishing the following two different books: one is composed of original sentences with many added explanations, and the other has been translated into modern Japanese. | |||||||
